Day 3 Thursday 9 26
Had a slower morning to get my paper work and lists of to do's taken care of, including some important information technology solutions. Hung around long enough to have, ch my first lunch at the AAR, which was as good as the dinners in terms of food and conversation. My new wonderful friend Tom Mayes, who is the lead counsel at the National Trust for Historic Preservation in DC and his partner Rod invited me to an important journey - finding a dry cleaner! With the location of the dry cleaner confirmed in our neighborhood, Tom, Rod and I headed down the hill to walk around the Capitoline Hill, primarly in the old Forum. This began......
in the courtyard of the AAR
but first I fast walked over to see San Pietro in Montorio - Bramante's Tempietto - which is right around the corner
Makes you appreciate that most all of Rome was built without machines like this
How can these beautiful Plane trees grow out of small holes in a sidewalk?!?
Into parts of the Forum
A most amazing wall of the Teatro di Marcello, that looks like an old man trying to tell us something....
Trajan's column
Palazzo Valenti
Markets of Trajan
Tom and Rod, my awesome tourguides for the day
This guy was distrubed from his IPhone by me, and then demanded 2,000 Lire because I took his picture
Piazza Del Campidoglio - way too many tourists!!
I loved this, and thus bought it for Tom Kelley cause it reminded me of his work
Love this little brick tower
and love this church - S Nicola
Off to dinner now with Brendan Cannon, friend of my BCC friend Frank Cannon.........
